ANNA OLSEN
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER, RAISING A READER
Since 2005, Anna has supported the work of the executive director and board of directors of Raising A Reader. She has provided oversight to the production, program, outreach and finance functions of Raising A Reader to build its national affiliate program. Anna has eighteen years of nonprofit experience, designing and implementing creative community-based programs serving people in need. For ten years prior to her work at Raising A Reader, Anna held grantmaking, leadership and direct service roles at First 5 San Mateo County, Sor Juana Ines Services for Abused Women, Support Network for Battered Women and Catholic Charities. She was also the co-founder and director of WAGES, Women’s Action to Gain Economic Security. Anna is bilingual in English and Spanish. She holds a master's degree in social work from San Francisco State University, with a focus on administration and planning, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of California at Santa Cruz. Anna had the pleasure of experiencing Raising A Reader as a parent for two years while her daughter was in preschool. A lifetime Peninsula resident, Anna lives with her daughter in Redwood City.
